Port location

The port is located in the central part of Sakhalin Island in Terpeniya Bay, Sea of Okhotsk.

  • Total port water area – 12.5 sq.km
  • Total port area – 9.52 ha, 3.82 ha of which have been developed
  • Prospective port area – 62 ha.

Weather conditions

North winds (54-66%), South in the summer (40-45%) and Southeast (18-22%) winds. The average daily wind speed in winter, 4 to 7 meters per second, in the summer of 2-5 meters per second, sudden strong winds, it reaches 20-30 meters per second.

Rainfall: 150 to 220 days a year. Annual rainfall 400-600 mm. the Monthly rainfall in winter is 10-30 mm, in the summer of 20-50 mm.

Foggy and cloudy days: from 150 to 230 days a year.



Ice situation

In the top of the Terpeniya Bay ice formation starts in late December. First the ice is fragile, easily brought to Bay and destroyed. At the end of January in the bay appear drifting ice, which arrive here from the Western and North-Western parts of the Sea of Okhotsk. The ice in the Bay disappears in early April and at the Cape Terpeniya may be delayed until may.
