The Port Of Poronaysk is located in the central part of Sakhalin Island in Terpeniya Bay, Sea of Okhotsk. The proximity to the offshore facilities, minimizing time for:
• transportation to offshore platforms – about 16 hours (for comparison: from Port of Kholmsk it takes 2,5 days, Korsakov – 2 days, Vanino – 3 days);
• supply of fuel and lubricants to offshore platforms;
• drill cuttings disposal;
• supply of chemicals for drilling mud.
Using Seaport of Poronaysk is the only option in case the oil spill response is required, when the time for offshore platforms approach is a critical factor.The port has a border crossing point.
